Devils Marbles & Alice Springs.

Left Barkly & turned left at the 3 ways, Lunch in Tennant Creek (that was long enough) & on to the Devils Marbles. 2 half days & 1 night there & then a free camp for 1 night & arriving in Alice Springs yesterday.
Lots of pics on this one.

Afternoon cuppa, somewhere East of Tennant Creek.

Another holding dam for a roadside artesian bore.

We saw a heap of these windmills with the tops missing ???

And there it is again, this never ending road, it is in very good condition.

The roadsign we have been waiting for after 5,000 klms. The 3 ways.

Graham & Gail will recognise this place near Tennant Creek. Look closely.

Pano. Lake Mary Anne, pretty ordinary

                                                            It is hard to believe.

                                                                    Pano, Devils Marbles.

                                                                  Selfie, Devils Marbles.

Lots of these rock pictographs, they seem boring now, but they were great if you are there.

                                                                 Pano, as above.

Pano, Yvonne & her identical sisters.

                                                                  Pano, more rocks.

Our camp from on top of the rocks.

                                                                               Rocks.

I have named this, 'broken rock'.

                                                                      Rocks.

                                                                                 Info.

                                                        More rocks & a wife.

                                                     I named this 'split rock'.

                                                                Rocks behind our home.

Yvonne tries to push a rock over.

                                                                Pano of rocks, last one.

You would not believe it, someone vandalised this sign by putting 2 kangaroo stickers on the animals & glued fake eyes on the sheep & the cow. Have they no shame ???

What a night. we pulled up in the bush about 45 klms south of Ti Tree to camp for the night as Greg & Wendy are a day ahead of us & some other people pulled up nearby & lit a fire. They then invited us over for a drink at dusk & so we took a bottle of wine over, before long 2 more couples had joined us & the fire was stoked up as it was getting cold. The company & companionship was fantastic & Yvonne & I polished off 2 bottles of wine ( if you know me, thats 10 times more than I normally drink) before slapping together a very late dinner. These off the cuff night are very special to me & they are some of the very special memories we will take home on this trip. A very similar event occured the previous night at the Devils Marbles. The mornings are always a little sad as everyone heads of on their own separate ways.

The red, the green & the blue, outback Australia. Morning walk after the previous nights over indulgence.

You know what to look for. North of Alice Springs.

The escarpment of Mcdonnel ranges around Alice Springs.

A buzzard using a rock to smash an emu egg.

                                                                     Success.

                                                               A colourful little bird.

Another bird, I like this pic, it looks cool.

                                                               A couple of budgies.

Some other birds having a bath.

A bird with long red legs.

                                                                       A passing duck.

                                                             An aboriginal dinner.

A thorny character. (these are not the true scientific names)

                                                               Some type of skink.

                                                                       Desert death adder.

                                                  Some other sort of lizard.

                                                                         And another.

Not dead, just lazy & well fed.

                                                                      As above.

I nearly didn't see this chap in the tree.

This big guy was hard to miss.

There are many kilometres of this great bikeway through the desert.

As above, over the shoulder shot on the bike. Yvonnes foot is improving now, she rode ove 20 klms today & walked 5 klms & said it was only a little sore. Its been 5 & a half weeks since she broke it.
